Strategy

Ritual is one of the steadiest currency mechanics in Path of Exile 2 — the rewards are visible before you commit, so you always know what you are paying for. The usual complaint is that the good Ritual tablets are expensive enough to make each setup a real gamble, and that the loop itself gets repetitive once the shopping is over. This strategy sidesteps the first problem entirely by building the run around cheap tablets and the new 0.5 Head of the Ritual King, rather than around an expensive tablet stack.

The core idea is that Head of the Ritual King lets you place a marker that surfaces six maps inside a Ritual region, several of which carry guaranteed boss arenas or guaranteed reward tweaks. Kill the boss early and it seeds into the rest of the Ritual maps, which means far more Tribute per run than a plain Ritual rotation would give you. Layered on top of that, the Tainted altar path opens the belt drop table — the lottery ticket that turns a good run into a Headhunter or Mageblood.

This is a farm for a character that can already delete bosses quickly. Since the whole plan is to force boss spawns into every Ritual zone, a build that stalls on single target will bleed all the time savings back out.

Atlas Tree & Setup

  • Head of the Ritual King (new in 0.5) — the centrepiece. Place it in a Ritual region to surface six maps, some with guaranteed boss arenas and guaranteed reward modifiers.
  • Waystones — anything works; T15 corrupted is the practical default. Pack Size or Rare Monster weighting are both fine, pick to taste.
  • Tablets — cheap ones only. Prioritise increased Tribute and “Ritual monsters are Magic/Rare” style mods. The unique Ritual tablet is worth its low price: it doubles your rerolls (2 becomes 4).
  • Ritual altar options — left side: the third option (tougher monsters, more Tribute). Right side: Tainted, which opens the belt drop table (Headhunter, Mageblood, and other unique belts).
  • Atlas master: Jardo — the mandatory pick is Partial Translation (0–40% increased tablet effect). The corrupted-Waystone node that rerolls the map and adds a modifier is optional. Remaining Jardo points are free choice.
  • Optional add-on — running Summoning Circles nearby gives the bosses you kill there a chance to migrate into the Ritual pool as well.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: low. Cheap tablets by design, plus whatever Waystones you already run. The unique reroll tablet is the only fixed purchase and it is inexpensive.
  • Returns: mid to high. Profit comes from Tribute volume rather than a single jackpot, so the floor is consistent — but the Tainted belt table gives genuine Headhunter/Mageblood upside.
  • Scaling. Returns compound within a run: early Ritual zones give little Tribute and few rerolls, later ones give far more. Deferring rewards early and buying them back once your Tribute pool is deep is the main lever.

Step-by-step

  1. Place Head of the Ritual King in your chosen Ritual region and pick from the six maps it surfaces, favouring the guaranteed boss arenas.
  2. Slot a cheap Tribute or monster-rarity tablet plus the unique reroll tablet, and roll a T15 Waystone.
  3. Enter the map and rush the boss first — killing it seeds boss spawns across the remaining Ritual zones.
  4. Clear each Ritual altar using the third left-side option and Tainted on the right.
  5. Stand inside the blue wisps that spawn in Ritual zones while killing — kills made inside a wisp yield extra Tribute.
  6. In the early maps, defer rewards rather than buying — your Tribute pool is too small to be picky.
  7. As Tribute and reroll counts climb, go back over the deferred rewards and buy. The creator’s rule of thumb: buy any omen priced above 1 Divine.
  8. Repeat, adding Summoning Circles near Rituals if you want extra boss density.

Risks

  • The whole strategy assumes fast boss clear. A build that struggles on single target turns a cheap farm into a slow one.
  • Belt drops from Tainted altars are a lottery — plan around Tribute income, not around hitting Mageblood.
  • Deferring rewards is correct early but easy to overdo; if you never circle back, you leave the run’s actual profit on the floor.
  • Ritual is honestly repetitive. The engaging part is the shopping phase, and the creator says so directly.
