Strategy
This is an Abyss farming strategy presented as the most profitable mechanic in PoE 2 this league — a strong companion to a cheaper Atziri-moving strategy for the low-value parts of the Atlas. The pitch is roughly 20 Divine per hour (30+ if you’re an insane blaster), driven by Omens of Light (~6.5 Div each), Omens of Abyssal Echo, raw currency, and Heart of the Well diamonds. A nice quality-of-life point: Abyss tablets are largely self-sustaining once you have a starting stock, so the strategy mostly pays for itself.
The real value of Abyss is its crafting output. Abyssal Echo lets you desecrate to look at up to six modifiers, and Omen of Light lets you annul a bad desecrated mod and re-roll — making it the best crafting mechanic in the game for finishing high-end gear. On top of that, rogue exiles killed on abysses respawn as liches that can drop Heart of the Well jewels (a 5-mod roll can be worth a mirror).
A recent hotfix made this far less annoying: Amanumu’s Void monsters now try to leave the cloud to attack you, and void uptime dropped from near-constant to about half the time — which is why the strategy became worth running again.
Atlas Tree & Setup
The right-hand side of the Atlas is excellent — take the Abyssal Overrun chance and the chain-overrun nodes for tons of extra pits and monsters. Shadow of Undeath and Blessing of the Source give more rogue exiles (= more Heart of the Well jewels). Take Lord of the Pit (scatters abysses — easier to handle and better spawn coverage). In the middle, take Amanumu as your guaranteed faction (best monsters even on a budget) and Vile Treasures for omens. Chosen Path: Rogue Exiles and Overlord’s Domain add more exiles. Forest and Desert biomes both boost rogue exiles; Forest also adds rare monsters (more Amanumu chances).
Investment & Returns
- Investment: MID — 3–4 Abyss tablets per map (largely self-sustaining), optional ‘Unforeseen Consequences’ unique tablet (>1 Div) to force an overrun
- Returns: HIGH — ~20 Div/hr realistic, from Omens of Light/Abyssal Echo, raw Divines, Heart of the Well jewels and tiered bases to craft-and-flip
- Scaling: city maps allow a 4th tablet; more rares and overruns = more omens and exiles
Step-by-step
- Look for city areas (Vaal cities, Faradun cities, any citadel-adjacent city) — deserts and forests are also fine.
- Run 3 tablets (4 in a city), all Abyss, prioritising effectiveness, monster rarity, increased rares, increased monsters-from-abyss, and increased chance for abyssal modifiers.
- Juice the waystone to a minimum of 6 mods (8 or Tier 16 if you can sustain it).
- Use Doriani (top-left master box) for the bonus revival.
- Drag Amanumu’s Void monsters out of their cloud — just walk away, they follow — then kill them for the valuable omens (killing inside the cloud drops the worthless Omen of Leech).
- Kill rogue exiles that spawn on abysses to turn them into liches for Heart of the Well jewels; ID tiered bases, exalt the good ones, and flip them.
Risks
- You need a build that can pull void monsters out cleanly — minion builds struggle with this; most other builds (including vine Druid) handle it easily
- Profit-per-hour is variable and luck-dependent; the quoted 20/hr is a reasonable average, not a guarantee
- Omen of Abyssal Echo prices are falling as more players farm abyss
- The ‘additional rare monsters from abysses’ tablet mod was nerfed in 0.4 and is no longer the must-have it once was
