Strategy
Expedition received a major buff in 0.5 and has jumped into the top tier of currency farms. The bad-RNG floor was raised while the top end was pushed even higher: Grand Expedition maps now spawn more remnants, all the low-value chests were replaced with currency and unique chests, and the runic-inscription bonuses that carry through a chain now massively amplify the monsters around each Veritanium node — turning small loot pops into huge spirals of currency. The result is a high-reward, high-danger farm where most profit is raw currency, exceptional bases, and the occasional jackpot like an Elder Saga or the Eldritch Legacy rune.
Atlas Tree & Setup
- Tablets — run triple Irradiated tablets focused on monster effectiveness and rarity of items; quantity of waystones is a fine third mod. League-specific Expedition tablets cannot be used (they get deleted from your bags), so Irradiated is the way.
- Master — Jaido — mandatory. The key node is Eastern Knowledge (10% chance to reroll every Veritanium remnant), enormous in a Grand Expedition with 5-15 remnants. Unexpected Missions adds a modifier on corrupted maps; Untold Histories helps land supports when bossing; Tina Appraisal nets more exceptional bases.
- Maps — six-mod corrupted maps. Grand Expeditions are flagged ocean biome, so atlas-tree biome interaction is minimal; focus on the master nodes.
- Logbooks — Fallen Stars is top priority (guarantees an Elder Saga, ~30+ Divines). Star Drinker / Origin of the Fall are great for Uthid/Olroth bosses; Wild Roaming Free has currency-box side areas.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid (Irradiated tablets + optional Elder/Olroth sagas; logbook prices vary)
- Returns: heavy raw currency + exceptional bases, ~5-7+ Divines on a good single Grand Expedition, far more with a lucky Elder Saga
- Scales with how aggressively you chase high-value remnants and bosses
Step-by-step
- Spec Jaido with Eastern Knowledge and run six-mod corrupted maps with triple Irradiated tablets.
- On Expedition-flagged maps (triskelion icon), pop logbooks — prioritize Fallen Stars rumors.
- In a Grand Expedition, scout all remnants first, then bee-line to the highest-value remnants, currency boxes, and underground areas.
- Use your 15 explosives wisely — hit the gold-flagged chests and skip low-value spots.
- Clear the bosses (Olroth/Uthid) for supports and uniques before leaving.
Risks
- Runic-inscription stacking makes late nodes extremely dangerous; six-mod maps are one-portal if you skip Doriani.
- Logbook and saga prices swing the profit margin a lot — a bad Elder Saga run can lose currency.
- Avoid chilled-ground map mods; they slow the run badly.
