Strategy
Abyss is presented here as the single most profitable farm in Patch 0.5, and a recent hot fix is what tipped it over the edge. The headline income is crafting omens — Omens of Light (around six to seven divines each) and Omens of Abyssal Echo — alongside raw currency and the preserved bone crafting materials (jawbones, collar bones, craniums). On top of that, Abyss is the best crafting mechanic in the game right now because it lets you desecrate to add modifiers and use Omen of Light to annul bad desecrated mods, turning picked-up tiered bases into multi-divine items.
The core of the mechanic is the abyssal monsters that spawn from the green pools in your maps. Killing them respawns them with new mods, and some roll Lichborne mods tied to the three sub-bosses: Ulaman (just a lot of monsters), Kurgal (a nasty chaos-projectile vortex on respawn), and Amanamu (the most rewarding). Amanamu’s Void monsters have a 100% abyssal omen drop rate — drag them out of their black cloud before killing them and they drop one of the five useful omens instead of the worthless Legion omen.
Atlas Tree & Setup
The right-hand side of the Abyss tree is almost all premium: the chance for maps to be “overrun by the abyssal” spawns tons of extra pits and monsters, and the chaining of that effect is excellent. Shadow of Undeath and Blessing of the Source give more rogue exiles, which is how you farm Heart of the Well jewels. On the left, Lord of the Pit (scattering abysses across the map) is the strong choice node. In the middle, Strange Aversions guarantees a single faction — take Amanamu, since it is both the most rewarding and, after the hot fix, no longer that hard to handle.
Forests and deserts are the biomes to target: forests give more rogue exiles and rare monsters, deserts give more essences (and thus more rogue exiles). Vault cities count as forests and Faradun cities count as deserts. Use Doriani’s top-left master box. Crucially, a recent hot fix made Amanamu’s Void monsters leave the cloud to attack you and dropped the void uptime to about half — which is exactly why this strategy became worth running again.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid — Abyss tablets are largely self-sustaining once you have a stock, though the very best tablets you will likely have to buy.
- Returns: high — roughly 20 divines per hour is reasonable, with 30 possible for fast blasters, driven by omens, raw currency and the occasional big crafted item or five-mod Heart of the Well.
- Optional gambles: Ancient Infusers to reroll/juice tablets, and the Unforeseen Consequences unique tablet (over a divine) to force a map overrun.
Step-by-step
- Find city areas (Vault and Faradun cities are ideal); deserts and forests also work well.
- Run three tablets (four in a city), all Abyss, prioritising effectiveness, monster rarity, rare monsters, and “increased chance for abyssal monsters to have abyssal mods.”
- Juice the map to at least six mods, potentially eight or T16.
- Open abysses, and as Amanamu’s Void monsters appear, walk away to pull them out of the black cloud, then turn and kill them for their guaranteed useful omen.
- Kill rogue exiles that spawn near abysses — they become liches and can drop Heart of the Well jewels.
- Desecrate and Omen-of-Light craft on tiered bases you pick up to convert map drops into sellable multi-divine items.
Risks
- The only real skill demand is pulling void monsters out of their cloud — annoying on minion builds specifically, easy on most others.
- Currency per hour is RNG-heavy; the divine-per-hour figures are averages, not guarantees.
- Kurgal monsters’ chaos-projectile vortex can kill you if you are not ranged or chaos-immune — most players prefer to avoid that faction.
