Strategy
The patch 0.5 Ritual rework, plus a string of in-league hotfixes, has turned Ritual into one of the strongest currency-farming mechanics in the game. The money maker is omens: valuable ones drop consistently, and a properly configured setup can produce them in volume. In a single relaxed session of roughly 4.5-5 hours, this strategy netted well over 200 divines worth of omens alone — not counting raw divine drops, bases, or uniques — which puts 40-50 divines per hour comfortably within reach.
The catch is that the gap between a good and a bad Ritual setup is enormous — close to a 10x swing in returns. A weak setup barely justifies the time; a strong one buries you in currency. Everything below exists to limit dry spells and maximize the number of high-value omens each map produces. This is an endgame farming loop, not a leveling activity: it assumes you can clear corrupted T15/T16 maps and can afford the modest upfront investment in Heads of the King and unique tablets.
Atlas Tree & Setup
The backbone is Rite of the Nameless. Travel to Kerath, attach a Head of the King (~1.5 div each) and set out a chain of six maps. The key trick is to lay these chains out in the ocean tile set so every map also rolls an Expedition while you path between nodes. Rite of the Nameless grants far more Ritual favor, more reward pages, an extra reroll per map in the chain, and two special bonuses:
- Foretold Bounties — add rewards directly into that map’s Ritual window.
- Foretold Proliferations — add an extra atlas-passive-style bonus that propagates to every remaining map in the chain. These are the strong ones; prioritize hitting proliferation maps first. Pressing Escape mid-setup does not consume the Head, so you can re-roll layouts and bonuses until you get a good spread.
Tablets: run the unique Freedom of Faith (cheap right now), which doubles your Ritual rerolls — combined with Rite of the Nameless this reaches ~14 rerolls per chain. Get a minimum roll on its downside (favorites cost increased tribute). Pair it with two regular Ritual tablets chasing the four key suffixes: increased tribute, rerolling costs reduced tribute, deferring costs reduced tribute, and increased chance to be omens. Deferring-cost-reduction is badly underpriced and quietly the most profitable of the four. Aim for ~3 of the 4 across your tablets and proliferations; corrupt tablets with infusers from Atzer’s Temple for a shot at a third suffix.
Atlas passives: take the full Ritual tree before min-maxing. Choose Tainted over Smothered, and increased number of favors as your default flex node. For the map layer, use ocean/swamp maps (Cultivate the Sea → Swamp), pick up Boss of the Bog (rare monsters can become map bosses inside Rituals), the swamp chaos node (exalts have a 10% chance to drop as chaos instead), and route summoning circles toward bosses.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid — Heads of the King (~1.5 div each), Freedom of Faith tablets, two Ritual tablets, and corrupted T15/16 maps.
- Returns: high — 40-50 div/hr on omens alone, more with raw drops and bases.
- Scaling: returns scale with reroll count and tablet quality; the more pages you can flip and defer, the more high-value omens you scout out.
Step-by-step
- Buy Heads of the King and a well-rolled Freedom of Faith tablet; slot two Ritual tablets with the key suffixes.
- In Kerath, attach a Head and set a six-map chain in the ocean tile set (Escape to re-roll for good proliferations).
- Run the chain, hitting proliferation maps first so their bonuses carry forward.
- In each Ritual, defer everything of value (down to near-free using the reduced-deferral mods) rather than buying immediately.
- Flip through as many reward pages as your ~14 rerolls allow, scouting high-value omens and uniques.
- Complete the chain, sell your omens, and repeat.
Risks
- A bad tablet/passive setup can cut returns by up to ~10x — configuration matters more than map choice.
- Rite of the Nameless chains cannot be converted into an Audience with the King, so plan to spend tribute in-chain.
- There is upfront currency cost before the loop pays off (Heads, tablets).
- The real skill curve is fast micromanagement — flipping pages and deferring quickly directly sets your divines-per-hour.
