Overview

Orb of Storms Stormweaver is a placement caster rather than a channelling one. The orb is dropped into a pack and keeps ticking lightning damage while the character repositions, which is the whole appeal — mapping never requires standing still to hold a cast. Arc runs as the secondary lightning skill to mop up whatever the orb does not reach, and Spellslinger layers additional spell pressure on top so the lightning theme compounds rather than competing for casts.

Burst is bolted on for the fights that need it. Sigil of Power and Mana Tempest are set up before rares, elites and bosses to create a stronger damage window, while Elemental Weakness and Frost Bomb strip resistances and apply exposure so the same lightning numbers land harder. Archmage ties the mana pool into spell damage, which is why mana and mana recovery sit high on the stat priority alongside the usual lightning, spell and area damage.

The result is a build that trades instant screen-wide clear for control. Damage is placed where enemies will be, the character stays at range, and shock stacks do the compounding work.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Damage persists while moving, so mapping stays smooth rather than stop-start
  • Safe ranged playstyle with no requirement to stand in melee range
  • Scales strongly with lightning damage, spell damage, mana, cast speed and area
  • Shock uptime is close to automatic through the orb’s tick rate
  • Sigil of Power plus Mana Tempest give a real burst window for bosses without a rebuild

Cons

  • Reward depends on good orb placement — a badly placed orb is close to zero damage
  • Mana sustain must be solved before the build feels smooth
  • Wants cast speed and defensive investment before harder content is comfortable
  • Boss fights require positioning discipline rather than raw uptime

Key Skills

  • Orb of Storms — main damage zone, supported by Overabundance, Harmonic Remnants, Efficiency, Zenith and Magnified Area
  • Arc — secondary clear with Cion’s Temper, Efficiency, Zenith, Rapid Casting and Rakiata’s Flow
  • Sigil of Power — the burst setup dropped before rares, elites and bosses
  • Mana Tempest / Archmage — the mana-into-damage scaling layer
  • Elemental Weakness + Frost Bomb — curse and exposure for tanky targets

Gear & Anointments

Stat priority is lightning damage, spell damage, cast speed, area damage, mana, mana recovery and cooldown recovery. Because Archmage and Mana Tempest are both in the setup, mana is effectively a damage stat and should be treated as one. Siphoning Elements provides sustain and cold utility alongside Clarity, and Convalescence with cooldown recovery and Second Wind covers the defensive utility slot. Specific uniques and anointments are to be confirmed against the source video’s linked build guide.

Endgame Notes

The creator rates mapping and scaling the highest of the six axes, with bossing and league start a step behind. Boss play is about orb uptime and positioning: keep the orb where the boss will stay, spend burst tools during safe windows, and move out when mechanics demand it rather than trying to tank through.
