Overview
Lightning Arrow is the standout bow archetype this patch, and this Deadeye version is built around being deliberately low-effort. The entire map rotation is two buttons: press Barrage, then hold Lightning Arrow. Everything else on the bar — Lightning Rod, Tornado Shot, Voltaic Mark, Freezing Salvo — exists for bosses and is simply not used while clearing.
Damage comes from stacking ailments rather than critical strikes. Blind from Wind Dancer counts as an ailment, Herald of Thunder contributes on its own, and Voltaic Mark with Mark for Death and Shock is the boss setup. The build takes no crit nodes at all, which is part of why the gear requirement stays low.
The companion is not there for its own damage. The Deadeye tree picks up a cluster of companion nodes that grant increased damage to the player while a companion is in presence, so the pet is effectively a stat stick that also carries an elemental resistance aura. That aura is load-bearing — resistances drop noticeably without it.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Full gear set assembled in a few days for around one Divine or less
- Two-button clear that handles T15 maps with most packs dying in a single hit
- No crit investment needed, which removes the usual expensive scaling requirement
- The gem progression order is spelled out, so it can be built up rather than assembled all at once
- Companion nodes convert a cheap pet into a large personal damage multiplier
Cons
- Resistances lean on the companion’s aura; losing the pet leaves noticeable gaps
- Evasion sits around 55% and the creator openly calls this an area needing improvement
- Mana sustain is a real constraint — mana-on-kill or mana-on-hit is close to mandatory
- The boss rotation is a separate set of skills, so single target is not the same relaxed experience as clearing
Key Skills
- Lightning Arrow — the main clear and damage skill, linked with Rapid Attacks, Elemental Armament, Lightning Attunement, Deliberation and Concentrated Area
- Barrage — the pre-cast buff pressed before engaging, linked with Deliberation and Cooldown Recovery
- Lightning Rod — boss damage, optional for faster mapping if you want the extra button
- Tornado Shot — fired into a boss so Lightning Arrow splits through it for large extra damage
- Voltaic Mark — boss debuff with Mark for Death and Shock
- Herald of Thunder — passive lightning damage layer, fully supported
Gear & Anointments
The weapon target is a Gemini Bow for the additional arrow, with over 100% increased physical damage, added elemental damage, attack speed, and ideally +4 to attack skills. Mana recovery on hit or on kill is the roll that most improves quality of life against large packs.
Everything else is evasion, life and resistances, with deflection rating from evasion now worth chasing. Gloves want added physical damage to attacks; a Prismatic ring covers elemental resistances; the amulet is a Solar Amulet for Spirit, anointed with Killer Instinct. Boots need movement speed alongside evasion, and the quiver wants added lightning damage, bow damage and attack speed. Greater Iron Runes go in most slots, with a Greater Storm Rune where lightning resistance is short.
Endgame Notes
Ascendancy takes Point Blank through Endless Munitions, plus Gathering Winds down to Windward. Past level 90 the remaining points go into the lightning nodes on the left of the tree. Skill quality is worth auditing — shock effect on Voltaic Mark and freeze buildup on Freezing Salvo both benefit, while Herald of Thunder and Wind Dancer gain nothing.
