Overview
This is a Warbringer grenade-totem build: Mortar Cannon totems fire cluster grenades while the character circles the pack, dropping and re-dropping totems rather than attacking directly. The creator has run this archetype since patch 0.3 and has played it on every class that can support it — Warbringer wins because it is the tanky one. The pitch is not raw damage but survivability plus damage: the life bar sits at full through Ritual, Abyss and Waystone 15 content on genuinely cheap gear.
By the end of day one the character was level 86, campaign complete, and running tier-15 Waystones with what the creator himself calls throwaway rares. Damage scaling comes from crossbow physical DPS, gem levels, totem count and armour-break interactions rather than from expensive uniques, which makes the whole thing unusually forgiving on a fresh economy.
The one caveat the creator flags up front: Acts 1 and 2 are slow, because Warrior progression is slow before the totem package comes online. After that the pace picks up sharply.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely tanky — heavy armour stacking plus armour applying to elemental damage means no one-shots, and the creator claims 200% Delirious maps once finalised
- Very cheap to gear: generic rares with life and resistances carried Waystone 15 on day one
- The endgame crossbow is craftable for a few exalts using a bought base plus a guaranteed +1 totem desecration
- Extra totems from the crossbow and an Idol of Full Doom both raise damage and clear speed at once
- Works for Trial of Sekhemas carries, which is early-league income
Cons
- Acts 1 and 2 are noticeably slow compared to other classes
- Grenade detonation time feels sluggish until the reduction nodes are picked up
- Needs a lot of gold, since heavy crafting is central to gearing the build
- Requires the final Trial of Sekhemas ascendancy to unlock the armour-break damage package
Key Skills
- Mortar Cannon (totem) — the core of the build; each totem fires the grenade payload, and totem count is the primary damage multiplier
- Cluster Grenade — the damage skill the totems deliver; a cheap +1 corruption on the gem is a large free damage gain
- Grenadier — makes each totem attack twice before stopping, which smooths both mapping and bossing
- Jade Heritage — a panic shield button for bad map mods or heavy packs early in the league
- Elemental Armament II — a budget support worth roughly 25% more damage until better options are affordable
Gear & Anointments
The weapon is a crossbow crafted rather than bought: purchase a base with additional grenade, two prefix modifiers and around 350-400 physical DPS with one open prefix, then force a desecration onto the prefix using Omen of the Sovereign (add Omen of Sinistral Necromancy if suffixes are still open) to guarantee +1 maximum totem. Finish with 20% quality and two greater iron runes. Body armour wants as much raw armour as possible, since a notable nearly doubles it, plus armour applies to elemental damage everywhere for hybrid mitigation. The amulet target is an Idol of Full Doom for +1 totem and +1 minion; before that, any cheap rare amulet with +1 or +2 to projectile skills works. Rings and gloves take physical damage to attacks and fire damage to attacks. Jewels want doubled damage mods — totem damage, attack damage, fire damage, elemental damage, projectile damage — with armour-break mods added once the last ascendancy is unlocked.
Endgame Notes
The creator runs Waystone 15 on day one and expects the build to become roughly four times stronger in both damage and defence with a week of upgrades. Abyss is the recommended post-campaign farm: omens sell immediately for exalts, rares are inclined to drop divines, and abyssal coffers add more, plus the abyssal master gives strong experience. Ritual is only worth farming with tablets.
