Overview

This is an early-league progress check on the creator’s Martial Artist Monk for patch 0.5, recorded after pushing through the campaign and into early maps. The run cleared the campaign in roughly 8 hours on day one (with five deaths) all the way to the new Arbiter of Divinity boss, then spent day two grinding to level 90 and unlocking Atlas points. It is explicitly a work-in-progress setup: the chase pieces — Alish Chimes and a Power Charge-on-crit Stonefist glove roll — are not online yet because of their cost, so the guide documents the budget shell that carries you until then.

The core loop leans on critical strikes from a Quarter Staff, Power Charges feeding Charged Staff, and Falling Thunder as the main clearing tool, backstopped by Tempest Bell for single-target. Herald of Ice provides the satisfying mapping clear once you stack enough cold damage to proc it.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Smooth campaign that reaches endgame fast and on a modest budget.
  • Very high crit uptime — around 85% before Daze or Blind — making Falling Thunder reliable.
  • Strong, low-friction mapping rotation: spin, Reaper’s Invocation for charges, Falling Thunder, repeat.
  • Doubles as an early-economy money maker through essence/desecration crafting and selling white bases.

Cons

  • Currently held back by a Power Charge bug in certain boss arenas when Charged Staff is equipped.
  • Best-in-slot pieces (Alish Chimes, Power Charge-on-crit gloves) are expensive and not yet acquired.
  • Higher complexity: many skills to weave (bells, charges, Reaper’s Invocation, Mantra) and an eventual CI transition.
  • Energy shield is harder to stack this patch after the Subterfuge Mask nerf.

Key Skills

Falling Thunder is the primary clear, supported by Nova Projectiles (rank 1, not 2, so it fires in a ring), Ricochet, Pinpoint Critical, Culmination for combo stacks, and Elemental Armament. Tempest Bell handles bossing with Close Combat, Elemental Armament, Ancestral Call (to drop multiple bells), Blind Side, and Elemental Focus. Whirling Assault is the spin used for clear and to build rage, running Rage, Magnified Area, Ancestral Call, Pinpoint Critical, and Efficiency to control mana. Charged Staff scales damage per Power Charge and is paired with Ozen’s Oath for mana leech. Killing Palm and a Hollow Focus bell setup generate Power Charges, while Reaper’s Invocation auto-casts a low-level Profane Ritual (with duration-reducing supports) to refund charges quickly. Mantra of Destruction adds large bursts of extra chaos damage. Heralds (Ice preferred when cold damage is available, otherwise Thunder) and Wind Dancer round out the utility.

Gear & Anointments

The Quarter Staff is the centerpiece: a Sinister base for its 12% base crit (around 15.6% after an essence), prioritizing lightning, elemental, or hybrid damage plus added crit, socketed with a Soul Core of Topante for elemental penetration. Grip of Winter unique gloves, amplified by the Stonefist ascendancy passive, are described as cracked and drove the second ascendancy choice. Body armour, helmet, and boots all chase the highest Evasion/Energy Shield rolls plus resistances, with deflect wanted on the chest and crit on the helmet. Rings favor cold flat damage (for Herald of Ice) and at least one line of leech to enable Ozen’s Oath; the amulet carries Evasion, ES, res, and crit but is not yet anointed pending the Delirium quest line. Charms recommended: stun, ignite, and thawing, alongside an instant-recovery life flask paired with a satchel to top up energy shield. Specific further uniques to be confirmed against the source video.

Endgame Notes

Ascendancy is Hollow Focus Technique first, then Stonefist (swapped in once Grip of Winter dropped), then Marshall Adept for combo generation and energy-shield recharge-delay reduction, with Marshall Master planned next. The tree stacks Evasion/ES defensive clusters, crit nodes, combo nodes, and Daze nodes, building toward Chaos Inoculation once energy shield is high enough. For farming the early economy the creator runs Breach/Abyss tablets and sells white bases, crafted belts and body armours, and surplus Waystones. Boss arena Power Charge generation is currently bugged with Charged Staff equipped, so grab charges before entering an arena.
