Overview
Arc Blood Mage is a crit-casting spellcaster. Rapid Arc casts trigger a steady rain of Comets through Cast on Critical, so the screen fills with explosions as the character moves. This week-one update reworks nearly all of the gear, and at this stage the build clears maps comfortably and deletes most rares instantly.
The Blood Mage pays spell costs with life, so the setup revolves around cost efficiency. It stacks life cost efficiency from socketables and uses a large energy shield pool that the ascendancy converts into extra life. That life buffer decides how many Comets can be summoned in a row. Critical chance sits near 80%, so the Ambush support has been dropped.
The passive tree now mostly travels between jewel sockets. The next big upgrade is crit chance / crit damage jewels, and the creator is already making room for them while picking up crit clusters and an energy refund notable along the way.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Very fast screen clear: Arc chains plus Spell Cascade Comets cover huge areas
- ~80% crit chance makes Cast on Critical triggers consistent
- High energy shield doubles as extra life through the Blood Mage ascendancy
- Flexible gearing: the rings can go fully into item rarity for farming
- Proven for money-making in Abyss / Breach maps and on the Arbiter
Cons
- Life-cost casting means you can run dry of life during long Comet chains without enough cost efficiency
- Visual clarity is very poor with Spell Cascade Comets
- Arc DPS drops against tanky targets once lightning infusions run out
- Spell Cascade spreads Comets out, which is weaker against single bosses
- The best upgrades (Marksman-rune gloves with +2 projectile levels, reservation-free spirit amulets, crit jewels) get expensive fast
Key Skills
- Arc — main clear skill, supported by Dominus’ Grasp for double chains
- Cast on Critical + Comet — the trigger package; Spell Cascade adds more Comets per trigger
- Siphon Elements with Harmonic Remnants — spirit skill for infusion upkeep
- Secondary lightning nuke — used on tanky rares and bosses when Arc falls off
- Sigil of Power — weapon-swap damage buff
Gear & Anointments
- Weapon: +6 to spell levels with critical hit chance
- Helmet: resistances and ES; a 25 spirit corruption frees spirit from the amulet. Idol of Ishta adds 15% cost efficiency
- Body armour / boots: triple resistance, life, and as much energy shield as the budget allows
- Gloves: a Marksman rune lets them roll +level to projectile skills (Arc counts). A socketed-augment effect mod raises the life cost efficiency augment to ~40%
- Rings: item rarity, casting speed, and resistances where they fit
- Amulet: +4 to all skill levels, casting speed and heavy ES%, with Barbaric Strength instilled for crit damage bonus
The future plan includes a reservation-free spirit amulet (~300 div at the time) and crit jewels (~70 div each). Rakiata’s Flow is an optional damage support. A Heart of the Well with energy refund chance would push Comet refunds above 70%. Exact support links are in the creator’s PoB.
Endgame Notes
The creator has cleared the Arbiter again, claimed all fortress points, and pushed toward the northwest of the Atlas. They mainly farm Abyss and Breach tablets plus cleansed zones for Fracturing Orbs, and report about 130 divines in one session from three sets of Abyss tablets.
