Strategy
Ritual farming converts monster density into a shop. Altars spawn in maps, every monster killed inside the altar circle is revived when the encounter starts, and killing those revived monsters generates Tribute — the currency spent inside the Ritual window on unique items and omens. The whole strategy therefore reduces to one sentence: get as many monsters as possible inside the circle, then reroll the reward window as many times as you can afford.
What makes Ritual profitable in 0.5.5 is omens. Recent patch changes tie the best omens to area level 79, meaning tier 15 maps are the minimum entry point, and rare Ritual tablets can roll increased chance for rewards to be omens. Omens liquidate cleanly on trade, which is what separates this from RNG-dependent unique fishing — a Mageblood or Headhunter from a tainted Ritual is upside, not the plan.
This is a mid-investment, high-yield strategy for players who have finished atlas progression and have a character that can clear T15 maps quickly. LangKatLegenda’s own 30-map test cost roughly 13 divines and returned 55, and he notes his Ritual-specialised character can run around 50 maps an hour.
Atlas Tree & Setup
First, a setup step most players miss: item filters do not apply to the Ritual window by default. Open the PoE 2 production config file (Escape → Options → Game → Guidance opens the folder), find apply item filter to ritual, and change false to true.
On the atlas tree the creator’s position is that no single best setup exists. The mechanics that interact with Ritual — summoning circles, shrines, rogue exiles, Azmeri wisps and delirium monsters — all feed the circle, and which one you invest in is preference rather than optimisation. What does matter:
- Generic pack size and increased rare monsters, since more monsters directly equals more Tribute
- On the Ritual tree, the Tribute-maximising option and the tainted-ritual chance node for Mageblood and Headhunter odds
- City biomes give an extra tablet slot at the cost of worse layouts — a genuine trade-off, not a clear win
- Doryani as master for the extra revive, or any other master to taste
Tablet setup for the tested run: six unique Ritual tablets (which double the number of rerolls) and six rare Ritual tablets rolled with at least 60% increased chance for Ritual rewards to be omens.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid — the tested run used 5× Head of the King at ~160ex, 6 unique Ritual tablets at ~80ex and 6 rare omen-chance tablets at ~80ex, totalling ~1,760ex (~13 divines)
- Returns: high — 55 divines liquidated from 30 maps, for roughly 42 divines profit, or an estimated ~21 divines per hour at 50 maps per hour
- Scaling: returns scale with map clear speed and with how much Tribute per map you can generate, not with further tablet spend past the reroll cap
Head of the King is optional but was used in the test: it increases the number of Ritual altars and adds bonus rewards at the cost of a harder encounter.
Step-by-step
- Enable the Ritual item filter in the production config file.
- Finish atlas progression — the strategy assumes a full point allocation.
- Roll 30 tier 15 watchstones for at least 20% increased pack size.
- Slot unique Ritual tablets for double rerolls and rare Ritual tablets with 60%+ omen chance.
- Optionally chain Head of the King for extra altars; run the chained maps in any order, since altar bonuses carry across.
- In each map, find the altar, clear everything inside the circle before starting, and complete at least three Rituals per map to unlock the full reward window.
- Spend Tribute on omens first. Use the defer button on high-value targets to reduce their cost across rerolls, and buy or defer anything that turns red before it disappears.
- Liquidate omens into exalted and divine orbs on trade.
Risks
- Ritual is RNG-heavy at every layer — which mechanics spawn in the circle, what appears in the reward window, and whether a tainted Ritual ever produces a chase unique
- Head of the King makes encounters meaningfully harder; a character that cannot handle juiced altars will lose more to deaths than it gains in rewards
- Tablet prices move with league age, so the ~13 divine entry cost is a snapshot, not a fixed number
- The divine-per-hour figure assumes 50 maps per hour on a Ritual-specialised character and is explicitly called speculative by the creator
- Below tier 15 the best omens cannot drop at all, which removes most of the profit
