Strategy
This is a comparison guide rather than a single method: five currency farms in Patch 0.5, ordered by what they demand from your build, your Atlas and your wallet. The framing the creator opens with is the important part — the most common currency mistake is committing to one farm when your character, budget or Atlas tree is not ready for it. A gambling-heavy strategy run on a thin stash will feel terrible even when the underlying math is fine.
The five covered are Ritual belt hunting (jackpot gambling for Mageblood and Headhunter), currency Abyss (the safe, low-complexity floor), juiced Breach rares (the highest ceiling and the highest build requirement), Strongboxes (repeatable and forgiving), and Boss rushing (near-zero investment, pure Atlas movement).
Two methodology rules carry across all five: price-check tablets and entry costs before committing, because a setup that was profitable last week can invert when reward prices move; and never treat one lucky drop as your hourly rate — judge each farm across several maps before comparing it to anything else.
Atlas Tree & Setup
Ritual belts — four tablets, so City maps are mandatory. One Freedom of Faith unique ritual tablet, two ritual tablets with “altars allow pre-rolling favours three additional times”, one filler ritual tablet with two decent mods. The critical modifier is reduced tribute cost when rerolling favours (target 28–30% if you only get one). Maps must be area level 80: T16 six-mod, or City maps with +1 area level. Master: Shadow with Partial Translation and Unforeseen Threats. Ritual tree: Tainted, for higher belt/charm/flask weighting.
Currency Abyss — one Abyss tablet with Abyssal Pits, one with “chance to contain additional abyssal troves”, one free slot (Abyss or Overseer for +1 Rogue Exile). Increased item rarity is strong here. T15 six-mod waystones; drop to five-mod and one fewer tablet on a weaker build. Abyss tree: Ulaman, for the currency chest option. Atlas: strongbox nodes, Rogue Exile nodes, rare-monster juice, and the water-biome currency chest node.
Breach rares — four Breach tablets. Three with “unstable breach spawns additional rare monsters when stabilised” (rolls 1–3; buying a low roll and diviner-ing it yourself is often cheaper), plus one unique Breach tablet with additional rare monsters and no pack-size penalty. Prioritise increased monster effectiveness over rarity. City maps, Grand Mirror delirium ideally around 200%, T15 six-to-eight-mod waystones targeting ~60–65% combined rarity and monster effectiveness. Master: Jade with Partial Translation, Unforeseen Threats, Unexpected Mission.
Strongboxes — every strongbox node available, plus Rogue Exile nodes. Research strongboxes are the money target; reroll them rather than opening plain. Master: Hilda.
Boss rush — no rare tablets needed. Keep a Breachstone and an Audience with the King in inventory at all times. Ryani for Atlas movement (opens nearby maps, reveals citadels); swap to Jade at Breach bosses for lineage support chance, then swap back. For Matriarch/Patriarch zones use waystones with ~95%+ waystone drop chance plus a basic tablet with increased quantity of waystones found.
Investment & Returns
- Ritual belts — Investment: high · Returns: high but variance-dominated. Omens cover map cost; the belts are the jackpot. Requires level 80 areas and expensive pre-roll tablets.
- Currency Abyss — Investment: low · Returns: mid, very consistent. Raw exalts, chaos and divines from Ulaman chests.
- Breach rares — Investment: high · Returns: highest of the five if your build can clear it. Falls apart on a weak character.
- Strongboxes — Investment: low · Returns: mid, repeatable. Best entry point from a small stash.
- Boss rush — Investment: near zero · Returns: mid, scales hard with movement speed. Even a slow build makes steady profit.
Step-by-step
- Price-check tablets, entry costs and current reward prices before picking a farm; if a setup has inflated, run the cheaper variant instead of forcing bad margins.
- Pick the farm your build and stash can actually support — Boxes or Boss rush on a small budget, Abyss as the safe middle, Ritual or Breach only once you can afford the tablet package.
- Ritual: enter a level-80 City map, rush and kill the map boss first, then run the ritual inside the boss room so the boss joins the reward pool. Do a summoning-circle ritual second if present.
- Abyss: clear every abyss, open every chest, kill the Rogue Exile and the boss, then leave. Ignore everything else.
- Breach: stay near the edge while the breach expands and kill loot-dropping monsters there rather than rushing the centre; move in for the stabilised rares, kill the boss, leave.
- Boss rush: pick one direction out of your fortress and push it. Skip trash in normal maps, kill the boss, move on. Run Breach zones, Crux of Nothingness, King in the Mists, Matriarch/Patriarch halls and citadels the moment you find them.
- Measure across several maps before judging any farm profitable.
Risks
- Ritual belt farming is explicitly a gamble strategy — the Mageblood/Headhunter outcome is not a reliable hourly rate, and a dry streak can eat the tablet investment.
- Breach rares punishes an underpowered character hard; the same setup that prints on a strong build can be unclearable on a weak one.
- Tablet and reward prices move. A profitable setup can invert without the method changing at all.
- Ritual and Breach both require City maps for the fourth tablet slot, which adds Atlas-search overhead before you can even start.
