Strategy

The 0.5.5 Forbidden Rites event opens a completely fresh trade economy alongside the existing Runes of Aldur league, which keeps running untouched. Entering the event means a new character and an empty stash, and that reset is the whole opportunity: for the first days, ordinary items that would not sell at all in an established league carry real value, because every player in the event needs leveling gear, resistance rares, build-enabling uniques, maps, crafting currency and endgame fragments at the same time.

The method here is not one farming strategy but a sequencing plan. Start on low-investment mechanics that any campaign-grade build can run, convert everything into liquid currency instead of hoarding it for a future build, and only graduate into the expensive empowered-map setups once your character can actually survive them. The event’s Ritual focus makes that first stage unusually easy — Ritual sites now appear throughout the campaign rather than waiting for maps, so tribute and reward screens are available from Act 1 onward.

This suits anyone starting the event fresh, and it is deliberately built around risk discipline rather than peak loot. The consistent five-minute profit beats one spectacular map followed by five expensive failures.

Atlas Tree & Setup

Complete Atlas progression before spending on farming setups. 0.5.5 makes the Fortress substantially faster: after the questline, defeating the strongest arbiter fight auto-completes the remaining Fortress sections, so a fully developed Atlas arrives far sooner than in previous leagues. Every hour saved there is an hour farming with real passives.

For the endgame Wildwood layer, Ritual grants a Sacred Bloom that adds a Wildwood entrance to a map. Inside, you follow trails on a timer collecting Primal, Vivid and Wild wisps, then release them back into the map — Primal upgrades normal monsters to magic, Vivid adds modifiers to rares, Wild raises item rarity, and rare Sacred wisps can also appear.

For the advanced Strongbox setup: Azmeri spirits can possess monsters released from a regular Strongbox (unique boxes do not work). Atlas choices that extend spirit duration or add possession opportunities support this, and Overseer tablets add both spirits and Strongboxes. Monster rarity on your waystones matters because it raises the number of rare monsters the box produces. City maps converted to the grass biome raise the chance of Sacred spirits. Specific passive names should be confirmed against the source video.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: low to start (Ritual, Trial of Chaos, Expedition need almost nothing), scaling to high for the optimized Strongbox version
  • Returns: a non-mined tablet + temple farming combination reached roughly 30 divines per hour in the previous league — treat that as a ceiling observed under different conditions, not a promise
  • Scaling: returns rise with wisp empowerment level and waystone rarity, but so does monster difficulty; the profit curve inverts the moment empowered rares take a minute each to kill

Step-by-step

  1. Decide whether to play the event at all — the existing league is not deleted, so unfinished Fortress runs, level 100 pushes and challenges stay available there.
  2. During the campaign, run every Ritual you can clear quickly. Skip encounters that would take several minutes for a weak reward screen.
  3. Price-check as you go: valuable uniques, omens, scarce leveling items, jewels, fragments and tablets. If a reward improves your character now, take the power instead of waiting on a theoretical trade.
  4. Rush Atlas completion using the faster Fortress path before investing in farming setups.
  5. Pick one low-investment strategy your build clears smoothly — Ritual first, then Trial of Chaos, Expedition or Abyss as alternatives.
  6. Sell what the fresh economy needs right now rather than stockpiling. Liquid currency is flexibility; an expensive item sitting in the stash earns nothing.
  7. Once damage and defenses hold, move into Wildwood maps. Prefer high monster density and layouts you can clear without backtracking. Gather wisps, release, and settle at the empowerment level you still clear smoothly.
  8. Only then attempt the Strongbox combo: clear the map, preserve Azmeri spirits, move them onto a regular Strongbox, roll the box for extra packs, open it, then step away and let the spirits possess the spawns before killing.
  9. Track investment and sales across at least 10 maps before calling any strategy profitable.

Alternatives

  • Trial of Chaos — best for players who dislike map setups. Rooms can now be passed between, objectives lean more toward killing, and wager modifiers trade danger for reward. Deep runs of up to 30 rooms can yield all three trial fragments in a single attempt, and boss access sells well while the market is hungry.
  • Abyss — abyssal presence spreads across the Atlas, with difficulty and rewards rising as you advance connected maps; the final map guarantees an abyssal boss, giving a fixed target instead of random fights.
  • Expedition — Runes of the Aldur content moves into the core game, appearing from Act 4. Expedition tablets can roll two full expeditions, two standalone remnant fights, or extra Sententaries. Crafting materials and early useful items have immediate buyers during a reset.

Risks

  • Over-collecting wisps is the classic trap: more empowerment means tougher and faster monsters, and currency per hour collapses if empowered rares repeatedly delete you.
  • The optimized Strongbox setup demands Kalguuran delirious maps, premium tablets, rare keys and well-crafted waystones — a strategy that produces spectacular loot can still lose currency if each attempt burns overpriced tablets.
  • The 30 divines/hour figure comes from a previous league’s economy; your build, investment, clear speed and current market prices decide the real number.
  • Locking your entire budget around one rare drop early is a mistake — demand shifts fast in the opening days, so convert value into upgrades or liquid currency before supply catches up.
