Strategy
Ritual is one of the few in-map mechanics where a chase unique can land in your lap on an otherwise plain map, and this method is built around maximising the number of chances you get rather than perfecting any single map. The creator has farmed ritual from league start in two consecutive leagues and pulled a Mageblood inside the first few days both times — neither came from an expensive tablet setup, both came from raw volume.
The core idea is simple: ritual spawns in every map, so every map you run is already a ritual map. Good tablets tilt the odds, but the biggest lever is how many altars you get through per hour. That keeps the build requirement modest — anything that can blast the encounter works, and the creator’s own runner cost about five divines — while the atlas points and the deferral mechanic do the heavy lifting.
The other half of the strategy is deferral discipline. Every favour you defer gets cheaper the next time it appears, so the loop is: reroll for volume, defer anything valuable, and pull it out late in a chain once the price has collapsed.
Atlas Tree & Setup
Path straight down through Delirium to the ritual points at Kartho before picking up regular points — the ability to defer matters from the very first map. Unlocking those points requires clearing the quest boss, which is a genuine wall early; buying a carry (roughly three divines) is a reasonable shortcut.
Allocation order:
- Patient Devotion first — deferring favours costs 50% reduced tribute. Without it, deferring a Mageblood runs over 2,000 tribute, which an unjuiced map will not produce.
- The tainted selection, pathing upward — biases drops toward belts (the Mageblood slot) and high-value flasks.
- The altar toggle — the +10% increased number of favours option is effectively a 10% larger pool to roll a chase item out of; the easier option is fine on a fresh league start.
- Everything else eventually — no ritual point is bad, and every small node adds tribute.
Pack size is the scaling stat, because tribute scales with it. Search “pack size” on the atlas tree and take everything, and roll six-modifier maps (alch, then two exalts) with high pack size for runs where you have a lot of rerolls banked. Six-mod maps mean one portal, so Doryani plus Stitched Flesh for the extra portal is close to mandatory. Waystones Have More Effect is also worth grabbing, since it multiplies pack size already rolled on the map.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: low. A five-divine clear-speed build, self-crafted tablets, and one purchased unique tablet is the whole outlay.
- Returns: high, but variance-driven. A juiced altar chain can reach 30,000 tribute; two Magebloods inside the first days of a league, across two leagues, is the creator’s own track record.
- Scaling: rerolls and pack size are the two multipliers. Reroll tablets multiply the number of pulls; pack size multiplies the tribute funding them.
Step-by-step
- Path down through Delirium to Kartho, clear the quest boss (carry if needed), and take Patient Devotion first.
- Take the tainted/belt-biasing branch, then fill out pack size everywhere on the atlas.
- Unlock Doryani and Stitched Flesh so six-mod maps stop being one-portal deaths.
- Transmute and augment every ritual tablet you own, then search “omen” and “allow” to find the two mods worth keeping: 70% increased chance for favours to be omens, and altars allow rerolling favours 1–3 additional times.
- Alchemy-orb every tablet that missed on the transmute pass — an alch rerolls everything and gives a second shot at both mods.
- Use Head of the King (a guaranteed reward from the Audience of the King fight) at Kartho together with Freedom of Faith to pick a chain. Start the chain on increased favours or increased rerolls so the bonus carries through it, and aim for chaos/divine rewards near the end.
- If a chain’s rewards look weak, exit and try a node elsewhere on the atlas — the same node always gives the same rewards, so you have to fish across different ones.
- At the altar, scan first and only reroll when nothing is worth taking. Defer anything valuable, never defer junk, and pull deferred items out late once their price has dropped.
Risks
- Ritual is a volume mechanic, so a run of dry chains feels like nothing is happening — the payout distribution is spiky, not steady.
- Six-modifier maps leave one portal; without Doryani and Stitched Flesh a single death eats the whole map and its ritual.
- The quest boss gating the atlas points is a hard early wall for a clear-speed runner that cannot kill bosses.
- The 1–3 additional rerolls tablet mod is rare to craft. Expect most self-crafted tablets to be the cheaper omen-chance variety.
- Deferring low-value items burns tribute that a chase item might have needed later in the same chain.
