Strategy
Perfect Flux is one of the most expensive consumables introduced in 0.5, and the price confuses a lot of players who assume an uncut gem could do the same job for free. It cannot. Skills that are granted by an item — the Breach amulets and rings that hand out Herald of Thunder, Blink, Trinity, Wolf Pack and friends, plus the uniques that allocate skills — do not respond to Uncut Skill or Spirit Gems at all. Allocating a gem simply hands you a separate new gem at its own level and leaves the item’s granted skill exactly where it was. Perfect Flux is the only tool that raises that granted level.
That monopoly is the whole price story. At the time of recording a single Perfect Flux traded around the 40 Divine mark: roughly twenty of them equal a Hinekora’s Lock (~800 Divine), and around sixty add up to a Mirror of Kalandra. Every application is therefore something close to two percent of a Mirror spent on a couple of skill levels — which is either a waste or a bargain depending entirely on which skill you point it at.
This guide is for players already deep into Breach endgame who are sitting on a granted-skill item and trying to work out whether to spend. It is a spending-decision guide, not a farming route.
Atlas Tree & Setup
No atlas configuration is required to use Perfect Flux itself — the relevant setup is on the item side. The supply of worthwhile targets comes out of Breach, which is where the skill-granting amulets and rings of 0.5 drop, so an atlas weighted toward Breach is what keeps candidates flowing. Specific atlas passive choices are not covered in the source video and should be confirmed against a dedicated Breach farming guide.
The practical setup is: acquire a Breach amulet or ring whose granted skill is worth scaling, confirm its current granted level, then right-click the Perfect Flux to see which skills on the item it can highlight and lift.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: high — roughly 40 Divine per application at 0.5 prices, and the cost has no cheaper substitute.
- Returns: mid, and entirely target-dependent. The flux does not generate currency; it converts currency into power, and it pays back only when it turns an item you already own into something meaningfully rarer.
- How it scales: gem levels sit on a scaling curve, so the last couple of levels are worth far more than the first few. Minion and spell skills gain the most — a granted summon at level 18 is common, the same summon at level 20 is hard to find on the market, and closing that gap is where the resale and power value actually lives. Utility skills like Blink or a Herald gain much less per level, which is why spending 40 Divine on them is usually the wrong call.
Step-by-step
- Identify a granted-skill item — Breach amulet, Breach ring, or a unique that allocates a skill — that you intend to keep using.
- Check the current level of the granted skill and confirm that Uncut Skill or Spirit Gems genuinely cannot raise it (allocating one produces a separate gem instead).
- Judge the payoff: how much does this specific skill gain from two extra levels, and how scarce is the item at the higher level?
- Prioritise minion and spell skills where the scaling curve is steep; deprioritise utility and movement skills.
- Right-click the Perfect Flux and apply it to the chosen skill on the item.
- Re-equip and verify the new granted level — other sources of gem levels stack on top, so the in-game figure can read higher than the base level you just bought.
Risks
- Price volatility: 40 Divine reflects a snapshot of the 0.5 economy, not a fixed rate. Re-check the market before committing.
- Sunk cost on the wrong target: applied to a low-value granted skill, the flux is simply gone with little to show for it.
- The consumable is non-refundable and the item cannot be walked back to its previous state, so the decision is one-way.
- Skill-level requirements still apply after the upgrade — a higher granted level can push a skill past what your character can currently support.
